“What’s felted soap?” is the question I’m most asked at farmers markets. The answer is, a bar of soap encased in wool. I take raw, fluffy wool from our sheep & alpacas, clean and dye it, and use the wet-felting method to coat a bar of my handmade, 4 ounce, soap. Why? The soft wool coat helps the soap last longer, makes slippery bars easier to handle, and takes the place of a washcloth. The wool is not only gently exfoliating, it also has antimicrobial properties and naturally resists mildew. Felted soap is fun to use and fun to gift!
